About FDB
 
FDB (The Co-operative Retail and Wholesale Society of Denmark) is a democratic organization owned by its 1.6 million members. FDB is the owner of Coop, Denmark’s largest consumer goods company. On behalf of the members, FDB aims to promote its primary causes, i.e. responsibility within health, environment, climate and ethical trade ­by implementation in Coop’s chains and through activities for the common good.
 
FDB publishes the monthly magazine “Samvirke” and manages the school service “Skolekontakten”. FDB also owns the advertising agency Republica A/S, Severin Conference Centre, Libris Publishing and FDB Property.
 
The entire organization in figures:
* Shop committees and boards: approximately 4000 members
* National committee: 100 members
* FDB board including chairman: 12 members
 
The national committee has supreme power. FDB’s Board of Management consists of a CEO, Thomas Bagge Olesen, and a CFO, Tom Stengade.
 
FDB employs 50 people in the organisation itself and approx. 200 including subsidiaries.
 
FDB’s primary tasks are to:
* Promote its primary causes: responsibility within health, environment, climate and ethical trade
* Make demands on the companies owned by FDB and ensure the demands are met
* Secure economic benefits for its members
* Promote consumer interests via the member organization
* Inform and educate the Danish consumers
* Represent the co-operative movement in public bodies and organizations, nationally and internationally
* Manage new and existing partnership agreements
